Grounds and gardens maintenance and development in Gloucestershire Community Hospitals
Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Trust
South West
Cirencester every Thursday, Moreton every Wednesday, Tewkesbury every Friday, 10.00 - 13.00
Three Gloucestershire community hospitals grounds are maintained and developed entirely with volunteers, managed by a team of three landscape professionals. The present teams are mostly retired though a number of the volunteers have a range of learning disabilities. All abilities are welcome.
The activities are matched to the individual interests or abilities. For instance, experienced gardeners carry out horticultural work and others, who perhaps like construction, are involved in landscaping works. In the past we have provided practical experience for people studying in related disciplines or helping some unemployed people get back into work. We would particularly welcome anyone who would be interested in learning new skills.
The sites covered are Cirencester, a large site with orchard, woodland and more formal gardens, Moreton (North Cotswolds) with habitat areas and formal gardens and Tewkesbury a town centre site with several garden areas.
Although the general maintenance has been carried out, our work would encompass a range of areas.
We have been connected with NHS Forest since its inception and won an award at the very first NHS Forest conference.
