This summer we caught up with a couple of 2023’s NHS Forest award winners to see how their green spaces are developing. It’s fantastic to see these spaces thriving!

Nominations for 2024’s awards close on 1 August.

Garden Project at Park Road Houses

Owen Baglow, Ward Manager at Park Road shares what’s been going on with the Garden Project: “This spring, we have continued to engage actively with the garden. It has been a bustling hub of activity and growth. One of the significant additions is a new nature garden, which features a pond and has already become a favorite spot for both patients and staff. We’ve also planted 122 trees in the garden space, further enhancing our commitment to biodiversity and creating a serene environment.

“These efforts have not only enriched our green space but also provided therapeutic benefits for everyone involved. We are currently planning more community gardening events and educational workshops to keep the momentum going.

“These recent pictures of the garden capture the vibrancy and progress we’ve made.”

Lambeth Community Care Centre limbcare garden

Joe Scoble, NHS Gardener at  Lambeth Community Care Centre limbcare garden let us know how the garden has been getting on: “It’s been a damp start to the year but we are doing our best to help wildlife, get veg growing and beautify our surroundings. Hopefully the NHS green spaces across South London will soon be managed internally and this will give us more opportunity to improve biodiversity and make positive changes.”
