This was a joint project between the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trusts and Natural England and it follows on from wildflower planting completed in late summer 2025 on the site. The trees were planted with help from the hospitals Stroke Team and also volunteers attending The Bay: a Blueprint for Recovery, which offers wellbeing sessions around Morecambe Bay for those experiencing problems with their mental health as well as experiencing isolation and loneliness. The area where the trees have been planted is a grassy bank in the middle of the hospital site which already contained some trees. There is a seating area in the middle of the area where staff can sit and connect with nature.
