Poole Hospital is the major trauma centre for East Dorset and provides a range of district hospital care for the 270,000 people living in Poole, East Dorset and Purbeck. It also provides a number of core services such as child health and maternity for a wider catchment area, including Bournemouth and Christchurch, and some specialist services, such as oral surgery and neurological care, for the whole of Dorset. The Dorset Cancer Centre is based here.
In support of NHS Sustainability Day on 26 March 2015, 10 trees were planted at Poole Hospital which received support from Chief Executive Debbie Fleming. Two of each of the following native trees were planted:
- Field maple
- Crab apple
- Wild pear
- Alder buckthorn
- Mountain ash/rowan
