James Paget University Hospital joined the NHS Forest in 2022. They currently have courtyard gardens, a sea front, a protected forest area and an green boundary line encircling the hospital. The trust, together with the NHS Forest, is working on a wild flower meadow. This as well as, plans for a new hospital to be delivered on the adjacent land. This comes with great opportunity for new green space in a wide variety of areas. In late 2023 they planted a further 50 trees funded by the Nature for Climate fund.
