Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust provides mental health care, addiction services and learning disability care. The trust joined the NHS Forest in 2014 when it planted two trees at 2pm for NHS Sustainability Day.

Mersey Care is developing a state-of-the-art inpatient mental health unit on the Rice Lane, Walton site, as part of its £25 million TIME (TImprove Mental health Environments) project. The site has been cleared and building work started in May 2013 and the site is planned to open in spring 2015.

The aim of the TIME project is to provide high quality, modern, therapeutic mental health environments for local people in the communities where they are needed.

The trust had invited pupils from Northcote Primary and students from Archbishop Beck College to develop a design that would provide information about the plans for the site, support the community to look after its health and wellbeing and brighten up fencing securing the vacant plot.

Mersey Care will be planting some of the trees from our sponsorship scheme in 2014.
