NHS Forest award for best green space for wellbeing at a health site
The winner of the award for best green space for wellbeing at a health site was Harefield Healing Garden at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust for the attention given to how nature can benefit the wellbeing of patients using the space. The runner-up was the Caring Garden, Fieldhead Hospital – South West Yorkshire Partnership.
NHS Forest award for innovative development of green space at health sites
The winner for the NHS Forest award for innovative development of green space at health sites was Daylight Activated Photodynamic Therapy at Bristol Laser Centre at Southmead Hospital for the innovative use of greenspace and natural light for effective and pain-free skin cancer treatment. The runner-up was Oakwood Nature Recovery Area – Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership.

The winner for the NHS Forest award for collaborative green space projects at health sites was Oasis Staff Health and Wellbeing Centre at Royal Berkshire NHS Trust with Food4Families for their excellent partnership working with community groups and food banks. The runner-up was Badgers Wood – Queens Hospital Burton with National Forest, Rural Community Council, local Conservation Volunteers.

The winner of the NHS Forest award for best green space on a budget at a health site was Tree-mendous activity planting a greener future at South Tyneside District Hospital for the teamwork, community and partner involvement that allowed the project to be delivered on a very tight budget without hindering quality or impact. The runner-up was Canal and River Trust nature sessions – Bradford District Care Trust.
NHS Forest award for most trees planted
The winner of the award for most trees planted. This year the award goes to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Essex for planting 2,290 trees over the 2024-2025 winter planting season.
