Hillswick Health Centre joined the NHS Forest in 2022. It first developed an enclosed surgery garden with raised beds using local stone, including dry stone walls. There is a large chain art installation made by the local blacksmith, a bench of recycled plastic, bird boxes, and local plants and wildflowers.
The health centre then planted a small forest for the millennium. A few years ago, it added a polycrub (a polytunnel-greenhouse hybrid) with indoor growing space for staff and patients. In 2022, the RSPB helped the centre plant trees. In 2024 the site won the NHS Forest award for pioneering use of green space.
