Red Kite View is a CAMHS mental health hospital with a strong emphasis on the importance of green spaces. It is widely recognised that access to outdoor, natural environments has a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing. The hospital has two courtyard spaces, one for each ward, as well as a shared communal garden area. Unfortunately, our previous gardener has retired and, due to financial constraints, we have been unable to employ a replacement. As a result, the garden areas have become overgrown with weeds. While service users and staff make every effort to maintain the courtyards, ongoing health challenges for service users and staffing limitations mean this is not sustainable. We would greatly benefit from gardening support to help restore our green spaces, including removing weeds and planting new flowers and evergreen plants, to create a more therapeutic and welcoming environment for everyone.
