BDCFT have partnered with the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare and thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund now have a Nature Recovery Ranger based with the Trust for 2 years.
As a Gardening Group Volunteer you will support the Nature Recovery Ranger and the Occupational Therapy team facilitating the therapeutic horticulture programme/gardening sessions with service users from various wards.
You will build rapport with service users and promote the positive effects of gardening and nature-based therapy on health, wellbeing and recovery. These sessions will take place in a therapeutic garden spaces located at the hospital.
Sessions will involve growing from seed, planting, tidying, crafting, watering and maintaining the outdoor environment.
Sessions will be on Thursday afternoons 1-4pm.
The post holder will come into regular contact with patients in hospital.
Selection Meetings will take place. If selected, we will also invite you to Getting Started, a workshop to introduce the checks you need to complete during recruitment.
