Each year, the NHS Forest gives away thousands of saplings to healthcare sites across the UK. We are now inviting sites to register their interest in receiving trees for the 2022-23 planting season, which runs from November to March.

We supply between 10 and 500 native British saplings for each site, trust or health board on a first come, first served basis. We can work with you on your choice of species and planting design to ensure you plant the right trees, in the right place, and enjoy them for years to come.

Email: miriam.dobson@sustainablehealthcare.org.uk if you have a planting project in mind, or would like to chat to us about the potential to plant saplings on your site. Any sites that receive NHS Forest trees will need to register as a member of our network – this is free and takes just a few minutes. You can sign up here.

Our Tree Planting Guidance Pack has more detailed information about planting trees on healthcare sites, including selecting tree species, identifying and planning your planting site, and organising a tree planting day.

Our supporters

In 2022, the NHS Forest launched a new tree planting programme, with a grant from the government’s Trees Call to Action Fund. This funding will enable us to coordinate and expand the NHS Forest, and support our sites in planting 21,000 trees across England over the next three years. The Trees Call to Action Fund was developed by Defra in partnership with the Forestry Commission and is being delivered by the Heritage Fund.

Our trees are sponsored by individual and corporate supporters, including RSK group who is supporting this tree planting work through an annual donation.
