Outdoor gyms help health

Obesity and diabetes are soaring at shocking rates and the NHS is spending £9bn a year on tackling health issues like these that are linked to physical inactivity. Multiple reputable studies show that exercise can help to prevent these health issues and several reports show that taking exercise outdoors is more beneficial that exercising indoors. Even relatively small increases in physical activity are associated with some protection against chronic diseases and an improved quality of life.

According to Sport England the main barriers to physical activity are cost & access. The Great Outdoor Gym Company’s gyms break down these barriers to physical activity. Their gyms are free to use and are in people’s local parks accessible to all ages & abilities.

What’s more, for every piece of gym equipment installed TGO sponsor a tree for the NHS Forest – Centre for Sustainable Healthcare’s national charitable programme to make the land around NHS buildings greener and healthier. For more info click the file link below.
