NHS Forest News- Issue #10Published by sarah on Mon, 2012-05-28 15:51
Welcome to the tenth edition of the NHS Forest newsletter from the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare for an update on news, events and resources to help you with planting the NHS Forest: growing forests for health. To find out more visit www.nhsforest.org
Yorkshire Ambulance Service has planted 50 trees, many of which are fruit, across their sites thanks to a grant from First TransPennine Express and the Foresty Commission. These trees provide a greener ambulance station for staff, improving their working environment. More details of the various sites can be found at www.nhsforest.org/map
GreenSpace Design Guidance is Published
'Greenspace Design for Health & Well-being' is now available as an FC Practice Guide and is very handy for NHS Estates looking to gain ideas as to how to create their NHS Forest site. Co-authored by Aileen Shackell and Robin Walter, this guide aims to inspire people in healthcare how to use their outdoor spaces for therapeutic purposes. It can be accessed via the following link:
World Environment Day- Sponsor a Tree or Make a Pledge
World Environment Day is on Tuesday 5th June. Why not sponsor a tree to be planted in the NHS Forest or make an environmental pledge such as cycling to work to mark the day. Last year both the NHS Supply Chain and Baxter Healthcare sponsored a tree for every environmental pledge made by staff in their organisation.
-World Environment Day is on the 5th June 2012

Forest News - how many trees have you planted so far?
The current tree count is 12,531, fantastic work but there are even more trees in the ground that still need to be registered, so please update your tree counter to help us reach our target of 1.3 million trees. Do share any seasonal activites you may be up to at your NHS Forest.
