Many of our sites braved the cold weather to take part in tree planting with Lanacashire Care NHS Trust launching their Grow Your Own Initiative too. 23 NHS Forest sites, from teaching hospitals to mental health trusts planted hundreds of trees at 2pm to demonstrate their commitment to increasing green space for staff, patients and the local community to use and enjoy for rest, relaxation and exercise. 23 sites take part in planting trees on NHS Sustainability Day of Action
On 7th March 2013 at 12.30pm the NHS Forest Green Gym, Cirencester Hospital received £700 from Cirencester College’s National Citizenship Service (NCS) students. On the day the students helped members of the Green Gym decide what improvements to make to Querns Woods with the money they raised. The students raised £700 for the Green Gym by holding a charity auction as part of their National Citizen Service in 2012. www.nhsforest.org/news
Capita Membership Services supports the NHS Forest
A new and innovative programme from Capita Membership Services is helping NHS trusts to become greener and more efficient and supporting the NHS Forest project. The Evergreen initiative encourages public, patient and staff members to use electronic communications. For every 10 members who go paperless, Capita will sponsor a tree at an NHS Forest site, close to the hospital trusts taking part.

Forest News - how many trees have you planted so far?
The current tree count is 17,565, fantastic work but there are even more trees in the ground that still need to be registered, so please update your tree counter to help us reach our target of 1.3 million trees. Do share any seasonal activites you may be up to at your NHS Forest.
